Core Analysis

Improve Your Subsurface Understanding with Core Analysis Services

Wellsite Services

To achieve high quality core analysis, the handling of core at the wellsite is of the upmost importance. We have nearly 50 years of experience in all aspects of wellsite core handling, sampling, and preservation. Our staff work in close cooperation with coring companies and wellsite geologists to fulfil client requirements and successfully recover the maximum amount of core. Our wellsite experts handle all types of core samples including conventional cores, sidewall cores, aluminium, and fibreglass barrels as well as unconsolidated cores. We have unparalleled experience in the handling and analysis of unconsolidated and poorly consolidated sediments, both at the wellsite and in the laboratory and have developed and adopted a range of techniques to stabilise cores to prevent mechanical damage during transportation and processing.

Services Include:

  • Onsite Core Gamma Logging

  • Epoxy Stabilization of Core and Inner Barrels

  • High Resolution Core Photography

  • Mobile Laboratory for Onsite Core Processing

  • Wax Preservation

  • Marking, Cutting, and Capping of Liners

  • Stabilization (Foam, Resin, Gypsum, Dry Ice)

  • Wellsite Plug (Hotshot Analysis) and Full Diameter Sampling

  • Probe Permeability (Depth vs. K Profile)

  • Preservation (Thermo Setting Plastic, Anaerobic Jar Seat Foil Bagging)

  • XRF (Chemostratigraphy / Mineral / Brittleness)

Laboratory Services

Our core analysis workflows provide rapid, accurate data that can be used to make immediate drilling decisions while establishing and “ground truthing” base parameters for petrophysical and geological models. We guide the selection of representative samples on newly recovered or legacy reservoir material for advanced testing while recording and archiving cores for future geological studies and field development.

Core analysis provides the only opportunity to make direct measurements on newly recovered or legacy reservoir material, resulting in more accurate inputs to petrophysical and geological models. Superior models and simulations lead to improved decision making, better wells, and improved economic performance.
